The January 24 2025 episode of SmackDown will air live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, which is located about an hour away from the SNME venue in San Antonio. This episode will follow the path of Raw and continue to build toward Saturday Night’s Main Event, with more Royal Rumble announcements expected.
As WWE prepares for the January 25 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, tensions in the storylines and rivalries are at a boiling point. The January 24 SmackDown episode will be the final build to SNME, featuring several big names, including Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, LA Knight, Women’s US Champion Chelsea Green, Bianca Belair, and more. The company has already announced two exciting matchups for the show in Austin. Let’s take a look at the confirmed match card and segments for the January 24 episode.
Former United States Champion LA Knight will go head-to-head with The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga. The two have been involved in recent confrontations, as Tonga and Jacob Fatu have been stirring trouble in the absence of Solo Sikoa. Tonga and Fatu played a role in Knight’s US title rematch against Shinsuke Nakamura on January 10, costing Knight the title. Knight got his revenge last week with help from Braun Strowman when the numbers game became too much for him to handle. This altercation set up a match between Fatu and Strowman at SNME, as well as a contest between Knight and Tonga on the January 28 episode of SmackDown.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) have been on a roll since losing the WWE Tag Team Titles to Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa (DIY). They’ve won their last two matches against A-Town Down Under and Los Garzas. Now, they’re set to face Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) in their quest to reclaim the tag titles. Pretty Deadly interfered in MCMG’s match with Los Garzas last week, which led to the announcement of this match for the January 24 episode.
