This week’s Friday Night SmackDown will be broadcast live from the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The WWE promotion will bring the March 21 2025 episode of SmackDown to Bologna.
The show will feature several major stars, including CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Jade Cargill, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, and Jacob Fatu. Roman Reigns will also make his return to SmackDown after appearing on Raw last week, where he ambushed both Punk and Rollins. Reigns made his long-awaited return on Monday Night Raw, seeking revenge on Seth Rollins, who was involved in a steel cage match with CM Punk. After taking out Rollins, Reigns turned his attention to the cage, where Paul Heyman was comforting Punk. Reigns attacked Punk, sparking tension that will lead to Punk and Rollins confronting Reigns on this week’s SmackDown. The segment promises to be an exciting development for these three stars.
In addition, after Liv Morgan interrupted Jade Cargill’s interview with Cathy Kelley and mocked her last week, the two will now face each other in a singles match. This marks Cargill’s first match since her return at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. Meanwhile, Zelina Vega challenged Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green in a backstage segment last week, only for Piper Niven to step in and announce that Vega would need to face both Niven and Alba Fyre before challenging Green. Vega agreed to the match, which has been confirmed for this week. Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu will also meet again in a singles match after their series of matches this month ended in a split. Following Fatu’s brutal attack on Strowman after their six-man tag match on March 14, Strowman is looking to settle the score.
Charlotte Flair made her in-ring return with a victory over B-Fab, while Drew McIntyre interfered in the Damian Priest vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match, causing it to end in disqualification. McIntyre then attacked Priest, promising to make his life miserable. Randy Orton also made his return, defeating Carmelo Hayes, who slapped him afterward. Orton retaliated with an RKO and prepared for a punt kick, but Hayes was rescued by Kevin Owens, who managed to escape before Orton could take action.
