On October 7, 2024, Monday Night Raw will broadcast live from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This episode, following WWE Bad Blood 2024, promises an exciting night of wrestling, including two championship matches and a Donnybrook showdown.
WWE is riding high after the success of WWE Bad Blood 2024, where CM Punk triumphed over Drew McIntyre inside Hell in a Cell, Liv Morgan retained the Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley with help from the returning Raquel Rodriguez, and Damian Priest avenged his SummerSlam loss by defeating Finn Balor. Now, WWE shifts its focus to Survivor Series 2024, where War Games matches are expected for both the men’s and women’s divisions. This week’s episode of Raw will begin building toward those high-stakes matches.
Three matches have been officially scheduled: Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the World Heavyweight Championship, Sheamus vs. Pete Dunne in a Donnybrook Match, and Jey Uso (c) vs. Xavier Woods for the Intercontinental Championship. Seth Rollins also returned last week, interfering in Bronson Reed’s Last Monster Standing Match against Braun Strowman to exact revenge for weeks of torment. Meanwhile, Killer Kross has been stirring the pot, causing dissension within The New Day and Awesome Truth, fueling ongoing storylines.
Gunther is set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Sami Zayn in what is expected to be the main event. This match is a rematch of their WrestleMania 40 clash, although now for a different title. Speculation points to Gunther retaining the championship as his dominant reign continues. With Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, CM Punk, and even Goldberg eyeing Gunther’s title, the competition is fierce, and the stakes are high as WWE builds toward Survivor Series.
In a Donnybrook Match, Sheamus will take on Pete Dunne in a match designed for payback. Dunne defeated Sheamus two weeks ago, and their rivalry has roots in their shared history with the Brawling Brutes. Dunne’s betrayal remains unexplained, though it seems he felt overlooked during his time as Butch. Sheamus, meanwhile, is eyeing another shot at the Intercontinental Championship to complete his Grand Slam, but first, he aims to settle the score with Dunne.
Jey Uso will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Xavier Woods, marking his first title defense. For Woods, this match is a must-win opportunity, but rumors suggest that Kofi Kingston’s involvement could lead to a costly mistake, sparking tensions between the two New Day members. Additionally, it is speculated that Sheamus will emerge victorious in his Donnybrook Match against Dunne, potentially ending their feud.
