WWE is reviving one of its most iconic pay-per-views, WWE Bad Blood, which will return as a Premium Live Event on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The event will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, coinciding with the 27th anniversary of the first-ever Bad Blood, held in 1997.
In an unusual move, WWE Bad Blood will feature a special early start time, airing at 6 PM Eastern Time/11 PM BST. This change is due to a scheduling conflict with a UFC event on the same day, as both WWE and UFC are now under the same parent company, TKO Group Holdings. Normally, WWE’s Premium Live Events start at 7 PM ET, so this adjustment is aimed at accommodating both fan bases and making the event even more unique.
Returning after 20 years, Bad Blood is arriving at the perfect moment, as several intense feuds are brewing within WWE. The event will replace the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, a move that has excited fans, as it signals that the Hell in a Cell match will now be reserved for storylines that truly call for it. Historically, Bad Blood has been home to some of WWE’s most memorable moments, including the very first Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, which also marked Kane’s debut. This year’s event is expected to live up to that legacy, with five matches already confirmed. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will settle their differences inside Hell in a Cell, while Rhea Ripley defends her WWE Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan. Finn Balor and Damian Priest will face off in a grudge match after Balor’s betrayal at SummerSlam, and Roman Reigns will team up with Cody Rhodes to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. Nia Jax’s opponent has yet to be revealed.
The Punk vs. McIntyre rivalry has been one of WWE’s most heated feuds of the past nine months, with their Hell in a Cell showdown being touted as the final chapter. Many fans believe this match should close the show, even over the Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes tag match. Punk, despite battling injuries, has maintained the momentum of this feud through his mic work, while McIntyre has been in top form as a villain. The stakes are high, and it’s widely believed that Punk needs the victory to solidify his comeback.
Meanwhile, the Balor vs. Priest match has been two years in the making, carefully built up by Triple H’s long-term booking. Though this is their first singles match, it’s unlikely to be their last. With Balor expected to win, this feud could continue through WrestleMania, possibly leading to a dramatic showdown involving Balor’s “Demon” persona.
